• The freelance position is for 1 or 2 days a month installing and uninstalling our monthly group shows. The position pays $10hr. This would be ideal for an artist who needs a little additional income each month. Ideally, this person could start this Tuesday.

    LOGISTICS COORDINATION
    NY Arts Magazine is seeking to fill a Logistics Coordination Internship for Fall 2011 and Spring 2012
    
    About NY Arts Magazine:
    Since its launch in the summer of 1995 as both a web and a hard copy print publication, nyartsmagazine.com (NYAM) has continued to be the fastest growing art portal in New York City. The information is updated daily, and our archives and daily newsletters include 2,000 galleries, 10,800 shows, 40,000 artists, and 35,000 images. Though NYAM's focus is New York, our mission is to actively promote the understanding and appreciation of contemporary art worldwide by providing easily accessible art information.
    
    The Role:
    -Coordinating incoming and outgoing shipments
    -Communicating with artists about upcoming exhibitions
    -Organizing gallery openings
    -Managing artwork archive and storage
    -Intern will be assigned other departmental tasks (e.g. marketing, editorial) as needed
    
    Required Skills:
    Proficiency in Word and Excel
    Must be a student (preferred) or recent graduate
    
    Hours:
    Must be available Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday for at least 3 hours (between 10am-6pm) per day. One Thursday a month you will be required to attend a gallery opening from 6-8pm.
    
    Compensation:
    At the mid-point of the internship, we grant the intern a press pass as compensation. This will grant you access to all the art museums in the city.

    GRAPHIC DESIGN
    NY Arts Magazine is seeking to fill a Graphic Design Internship for Spring 2012
    
    About NY Arts Magazine:

The information is updated daily, and our archives and daily newsletters include 2,000 galleries, 10,800 shows, 40,000 artists, and 35,000 images. Though NYAM's focus is New York, our mission is to actively promote the understanding and appreciation of contemporary art worldwide by providing easily accessible art information.
    
    The Roll:
    -Work with our design team creating layouts for the printed edition
    -Design web banners and promotional materials
    -Updating the Broadway Gallery and NY Arts websites.
    
    Required Skills:
    - Strong working knowledge in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)
    - Strong sense of design and typography
    - General interest in painting, photography, and illustration
    - Knowledge of Joomla is preferred but not required
    
    Hours:
    Our scheduling is flexible, but candidates must be for at least 3 hours (between 10am-6pm) for 2 days a week. One Thursday a month you will be required to attend a gallery opening from 6-8pm.
