A friend and I are launching a non-profit centered around increasing helmet use on motorcycles in Uganda. Motorcycle taxi accidents are a leading cause of death in the country, soon to eclipse AIDS and we think it's an important issue.

We have a business plan put together that involves creating a new helmet that is appropriate for the Ugandan climate, aesthetic, economy and culture. We'll be entering this plan into the Harvard Business School Social Entrepreneurship Business Plan Competition and we'd love to have your class help us towards our entry if they can! I gave it some thought over the weekend and think there is a potential for three projects they could work on. If you decide you want to use us in another way, that's great too. Here they are in order of preference.

1 - Complete concept sketches / designs of the helmet and a mechanism to lock the helmet to the bike. We have some ideas and crude drawings, but need polish and detailing and a clean professional look. Timeframe: 2.5 weeks. I've included one of my pretty pictures to whet your imagination and prove why we need some sort of graphical help.

2 - Create a website. Pretty straight forward and big for us, but also time consuming! Timeframe, rest of semester

3 - Create a logo. We are tentatively called 1x1 Helmets and may already have a graphic artist on board, but this could be a good assignment anyways. Timeframe 2.5 weeks
