Design Intern Needed

FIAF (French Institute Alliance Française)

FIAF is a multi-disciplinary cultural organization. Its mission is to promote and enhance the knowledge and appreciation of French and Francophone culture, to increase the knowledge of the French language, and to encourage interaction among French, Francophone and American people through education and cultural programs. FIAF presents Cinema, Performing Arts, Visual Arts and social event programs. FIAF has an extensive French library and Language Center.

We are currently looking for a design intern who is dedicated to producing work with close attention to typographic detail in a high-pace environment. The intern will work and correspond with the in-house graphic designer and creative director, French designer, Philippe Apeloig while learning the identity of FIAF. Projects include brochures, flyers, multi-page calendars, posters, invitations, postcards, and building signage.

The intern will gain real-life and useful experience by interacting and coordinating with FIAF staff and printers, as they follow through on printed matter. The intern will be expected to go to on-site press checks for projects. This is a great opportunity for someone to see projects go from initial concept to final production.

What to expect:
On-the-job practical design experience
Seeing designs go to print

Responsibilities:
Managing deadline driven schedules
Meeting weekly deadlines for projects
Coordinating with various printers on the production of printed matter
General office duties

Education/Experience:
Achieved or currently pursuing a BFA with a concentration in Graphic Design
Advanced knowledge and experience with InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop is a MUST.

Compensation:
Intern will receive a monthly stipend.
French classes and membership are also offered in addition to stipend.

Commitment:
We expect the intern to work a full-time schedule throughout the summer.
